Blue Cypress Lake is the largest lake in Indian River County, about 6,500 acres and 21 miles in circumference. The lake's name comes from the blue appearance of the cypress trees as the morning sun's rays reflect off the water. It is a popular place for camping and fishing. In Spring birders rent pontoon boats to witness the 250 nesting pairs of Osprey that return to the lake at this time. This is why we were here on Sunday.
