Runners in the third annual Chimpathon 16K in Fort Pierce, Florida. This unique race benefits the Save the Chimps sanctuary, the largest chimpanzee sanctuary for rescued animals in the US. It's 16K because it costs $16,000 a year per chimp for its maintenance. There are 250 chimps living on island homes there. The course includes a short loop through the sanctuary, which is not generally open to the public.
